After two years of tedious disruption, a global pandemic and not to mention awful weather! We return to racing stronger and faster than ever with eight finalists, and four overall winners.
The day kicked off with two Gravesend Women’s Novice 4x+ crews! GRV-Mayatt put up a strong fight but fell short on their opening quarter-final race. However, GRV-Treveil won their semi-final by 3/4 of a length and successfully went on to win their final by an outstanding 3 lengths. GRV-Treveil set a new race record of 2:47 for the category.
An exhilarating final occurred in the Mens 4x+ between GRV-Malthouse and GRV-Appleton with the latter crew taking the win in 1 and 1/2 lengths.
This was followed by GRV-Padmasari winning their Masters B double easily!
The Women’s 4+ had an invigorating and exceptional day of racing. The coxed crew won their quarter final by 3 lengths followed by a win in their semi-final by 1/2 a length. However, in the final they lost short by 1/2 a length against Maidstone.
The highlight of the day was GRV-Green’s ‘technical issue’ which entertained the hundreds as he took a swim to test the waters in his single. Dan Green often gives us the delight of a spectacular race when he demonstrates his swimming skills in regattas.
There is simply too many successful crews to all give them a mention! Overall, the day was a great success from the winners all the way down to the new members completing their first race.
