Caitlin and Amelia Page won the Band 2 women’s doubles at Peterborough City RC’s Spring Regatta, a weekend-long event which also saw the first race of our new eight, Neptune.
15 crews from Gravesend were entered into 1000m spring race at the four-lane, purpose-built lake, from across the junior, adult and masters squads. Across the warmest weekend of they year so far, a number of crews won their heats and made it into the finals, with a win for our women’s double on the Saturday. Our eight, Neptune, saw its first outing in a race since it was purchased by the club last autumn, seeing the first Gravesend men’s and women’s eights entered into a regatta in many years.
Congratulations to all our competitors, including those who stepped in last-minute following injuries, and thank you to all the members, friends and parents who came along to help put up tents, cook the BBQ and ensure everyone was fully supplied with sun cream and water for the long weekend!
Our next race will be at Kingston for our senior crews in July, followed by Sudbury in August.
